Ran across an interesting mixture of social bookmarking site that brings together some of the most worthwhile sites on the net (in my opinion) called Doggdot.us:

why doggdot.us digg, slashdot, and del.icio.us/popular - this is a constant browsing cycle for me. So why not combine them into a unified format without all the extra chrome? We can eliminate dupes and add some extra niceities

Will definitely be keeping an eye on this site as a fascinating mixture that may be rather worthwhile for tech geeks like myself. Already found a great article through it that links to Yahoo about Facebook admitting ad service tracking users who are logged-off after being caught:

Users aren’t informed that data on their activities at these sites is flowing back to Facebook, nor given the option to block that information from being transmitted, according to Berteau.

If users have ever checked the option for Facebook to “remember me”– which saves users from having to log on to the site upon every return to it– Facebook can tie their activities on third-party Beacon sites directly to them, even if they’re logged off and have opted out of the broadcast. If they have never chosen this option, the information still flows back to Facebook, although without it being tied to their Facebook ID, according to Berteau.

Facebook’s admission over the weekend contradicts previous statements from the company regarding this issue. For example, in e-mail correspondence with Facebook’s privacy department, Berteau was told, among other things, that “as long as you are logged out of Facebook, no actions you have taken on other websites can be sent to Facebook.”

Seems like Facebook is just going from bad to worse and have been caught in many ways with their pants down. Definitely are deserving what they get, but at the same time, I don’t feel a lot of sympathy for people on Facebook (that includes myself) as current federal laws perfectly allow for such invasions of privacy as long as people don’t stand up and demand that their representatives do something about this. Therefore, I personally those complaints more as whining unless they are either leaving Facebook, contacting their reps, or using Ad Block Plus to block out the Beacon program.
